Missoula Works : An Employment Social Enterprise

A social enterprise is a business that aims to have a positive social or environmental impact by creating jobs for marginalized citizens. It goes beyond simply making a profit and focuses on using the income it creates to continue with its goal. People come to us with barriers that might make finding employment in the general workforce difficult. We make it our job to find them a job; if we can’t find it, we create one for them. The newest way we are offering employment is with a textile training operation.

Behind the Label

When you purchase one of our bags, you are buying a story. A story of materials diverted from the landfill and used to create quality sustainable products, about retired smokejumpers designing bags and training people to make them, and most importantly, about the people behind the line of whirring sewing machines who found a chance to be part of a community of misfits coming together to build something. When you see our label, that story is what you are buying.
